Ingredients

Pollo Asada Taco from Chronic Taco includes marinated and grilled chicken as its main ingredient. Besides this, the dish also features a few other ingredients that you need to keep handy during the preparation.

  • ¼ cup extra-virgin olive oil
  • ¼ cup fresh orange juice
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • 2 garlic cloves, smashed
  • 1 tsp. kosher salt
  • 1 tsp. black pepper
  • 2 lb. skinless, boneless chicken thighs
  • 1 large onion, quartered
  • 12 to 14 small corn or flour tortillas, warmed
  • Pico de gallo, sour cream and fresh cilantro, for topping
  • Lime wedges, for serving

Method of Preparation

  1. To begin with the recipe, first whisk the olive oil, orange juice, lemon juice, lime juice, garlic, salt and pepper in a large bowl. Add the chicken thighs and onion in a large resealable plastic bag and pour in the marinade, toss well so that the marinade combines the chicken properly.
  2. Seal the bag and refrigerate the chicken for at least 1 hour and up to 4 hours.
  3. Place a rack in the top of the oven and preheat to 450˚. Line a baking sheet with foil. Place the chicken, onion and marinade onto the prepared pan and bake for about 15 minutes.
  4. Turn the oven to broil and cook until the chicken becomes golden brown and cooked through, which will take you about 5 to 10 more minutes. Let the chicken rest for about 5 minutes. Now your chicken is ready.
  5. Now, slice the chicken and toss with the onion and pan juices. To serve the tacos, place the chicken on the tortilla and top with pico de gallo, sour cream and cilantro. Serve hot and fresh with lime wedges.

Love chronic taco. Never fails, best street tacos around. We always do tons of carne asada tacos, and make it a combo!

Had chronic tacos for the first time and wow, I have no idea how it took me so long to have it! I had the pollo asada tacos and lucky for me I decided to go on a Tuesday so they were $1 off and incredible! I also got a bag of chips which were very disappointing, I've heard a lot of good things about their chips but the ones I got were really greasy and tasted like the oil they were (fried or baked) in. Those chips are what made my lunch bleh but the seasoning on the chicken was amazing!

This was our first time trying DoorDash, and since my wife and I were craving Mexican food, it worked out well.  Too bad we can't (or couldn't) find a place to write a review for them (DoorDash).  It's a GREAT SERVICE, especially in this time of COVID.

The Mrs and I ordered almost exactly the same burrito (Spanish rice, refried beans, pollo asado, salsa verde-medium, and "the works"-lime, cheese, cilantro, onion, lettuce, cabbage, pico de gallo).  The only difference was she ordered sour cream and I elected for the cilantro creama.  We also got a side order of tater tots.

The flavors were good, and the size was more than adequate for one person. We both felt, however, that the lack of chicken throughout the burrito was disappointing given the entree price ($13.75).  I only had three small pieces in the entire burrito.

The tots were FANTASTIC, and although the serving size was small for $2.50, they were crispy and not greasy at all.

Not sure we'd come back.  Will probably give a different Mexican joint a try next time to craving strikes.

The Most Popular Queries

What kind of chicken is used in pollo asada taco?

Ans: Pollo Asada Tacos are easy to make and they are full of flavor. Pollo Asada features grilled chicken marinated in citrus and a mix of spices that give it a delicious flavor. The best way to get the amazing flavors in this chicken is to grill it in high heat; you need to give the chicken a bit of char and smokiness.

Can I cook the marinated chicken in a pan instead of grilling it in the oven?

Ans: Yes, you can. Place a pan on a gas stove over medium heat. Add oil to it. Add the marinated chicken into the oil and stir for about 2-3 minutes. Then, you can't simmer the flame and let the chicken cook for another 5-7 minutes or until the chicken is cooked through. Voila! You are done with the chicken. If you are checking on your calories, then we suggest you grill the chicken instead of cooking it in oil.
