Why did Taco Bell discontinue the Mexican pizza?

But low numbers aren't the reason that this lovable item is being discontinued. According to Taco Bell, the item is being removed from its lineup in part because of its environmental impact. The packaging associated with the meal accounts for over seven million pounds of paperboard material per year in the U.S. Even with all of the petitions going around to save one of the best specialty items that Taco Bell has ever created though, the brand isn't planning on changing its mind.
