  • 1 ½ pounds skirt Steak
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • crushed red pepper to taste
  • 1 lime
  • 1 (28 ounce) can tomatillos
  • 2 fresh jalapeno peppers, seeded
  • 4 tablespoons canola oil, divided
  • 1 (10.5 ounce) can beef broth

To Serve

  • Corn tortillas, cut in shape of nacho chips and deep fried in oil
  • ½ cup chopped onion
  • ½ cup chopped fresh cilantro
  • Avocado slices
  • Guacamole
  • Sour cream
  • Pico de gallo
  • salsa

Method of Preparation

  1. To begin with the recipe, first you need to place sliced meat into a shallow bowl. Then, season with salt, black pepper, and crushed red pepper. Now add lime juice to the meat, and mix well so that the meat is evenly coated. Cover, and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  2. In a blender or food processor, add tomatillo and jalapenos. Then you need to puree the ingredients for 15 to 20 seconds, or until it becomes thick.
  3. Now heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Pour in the tomatillo mixture very gently. Cook the mixture while stirring frequently, for about 5 minutes. Add beef broth to this mixture. Reduce heat, and let it simmer for about 20 to 30 minutes or until the mixture coats a spoon. When you are done with the mixture, transfer it to a serving dish.
  4. Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a large skillet over high flame. Stir in 1/3 of the beef, and saute for about 1 minute. Transfer the cooked carne asada to a serving dish. Repeat the same procedure with the remaining beef.
  5. To assemble the nachos platter, add a spoonful of cooked carne asada on a plate, add pineapple, chopped onion, and cilantro. Then top it with onions, guacamole, avocado slices, nacho chips, sour cream, pico de gallo, cilantro, and your favourite salsa.

Never had Chronic Tacos before & I'm glad my 1st try was this location! The meats were tender, juicy & so flavorful! I loved the Pastor & the Asada! I made my daughter get the California burrito with Asada & I got the Pastor so we can share halves. Lots of variety toppings & fillings. The salsas were not just a heat addition, but also flavorful. They even had ghost pepper sauce you can add if you need a hotter kick! Our burritos paired great with the Mexican glass bottled Coke & non-alcoholic Sangria. I'm super excited to go back and try the loaded fries & nachos! The owners were friendly & helpful, giving a first timer like myself some tips on what most people love. All staff had masks on at all times & everything looked clean & sanitized. We will definitely be coming back! Not very many delicious Mexican food places in the Yorba Linda/Anaheim Hills area, so we're extremely happy to finally find one!
