  • 1/4 medium head iceberg lettuce

  • 1 medium tomato

  • 1 pound lean ground beef

  • 5 (10-inch) large flour tortillas

  • 4 (5-inch) tostada shells

  • 2 tablespoons store-bought or homemade taco seasoning

  • 1/2 cup water

  • 1 cup store-bought or homemade nacho cheese or queso dip

  • 1/4 cup regular or reduced-fat sour cream

Method of Preparation

  • To begin with the recipe you have to pre-heat the oven. So, place a rack in the middle of the oven. Heat the oven to 350ºF.

  • Meanwhile, you can shred 1/4 head iceberg lettuce finely. Then dice 1 tomato.

  • Place a large frying pan over medium-high heat until it becomes hot. Add 1 pound ground beef and cook by stirring occasionally. Break up any large chunks with a wooden spoon, until the beef is cooked properly and turns its colour to brown; this will take about 5 minutes.

  • Then heat the tortillas and crisp up the tostada shells.

  • Stack 5 tortillas by wrapping them completely in aluminium foil. Place the tortillas in the oven. Place 4 tostada shells directly on the oven rack in a single layer. Heat the tostadas until they become crisp and the tortillas are warm; this will take about 3 minutes.

  • Keep the tostadas and tortillas aside.

  • Season the beef with 2 tablespoons taco seasoning and mix well. Pour in ½ cup water and simmer on medium heat until most of the water gets evaporated, which will take another 2 minutes.

  • Remove from the heat and add 1 cup nacho cheese sauce or queso dip to this mixture.

  • To fill the crunchwraps, place 4 of the tortillas on a work surface. Divide and place the cheesy beef onto the center of the tortillas by spreading the beef out on each of the tortillas to create a 5-inch round.

  • Then spread 1 tablespoon sour cream on each of the tostada shells. Place one tostada sour cream-side up on each round of cheesy beef. Add the lettuce and tomatoes onto the sour cream.

  • Tear the remaining tortilla into 4 pieces to place a piece on the top of each crunchwrap to cover the center.

  • To wrap the crunchwraps, fold the top of a tortilla over the filling to the center. Holding that piece down in clockwise direction, continue folding the rest of the tortilla towards the middle portion until the filling gets completely covered. This will make 5 to 6 folds. Flip the crunchwrap over and repeat the same procedure with the remaining tortillas.

  • Place 2 frying pans or a griddle over medium heat. Then place the crunchwraps, folded-side down, in the heated pans. Cook until it becomes brown; it will take 3 to 4 minutes for browning each side.

I can't get my wife to go to TB, but I sneak over occasionally. I often like the 7 layer burrito and thought I'd try the Crunchwrap this time. I liked it a lot and will get it again.
